What is ImpulsePal? Answer
ImpulsePal is a smartphone app which offers various psychological strategies that can be used to help you deal with in-the-moment temptation in order to stick to your healthy lifestyle goals.
Who is it for? Answer
The app is designed for people who are trying to lose weight by focusing on food intake in particular. However, the app is for anyone who would like to reduce the amount of unhealthy snacks they eat or to stop themselves from overeating when stressed, bored, or for any other reason.
What devices does it work on? Answer
At the moment the ImpulsePal app works on any device that runs on the Android operating system version 2.3 (Gingerbread) or higher. However we are planning on programming in iOS as well.
Why have you changed the app? Answer
The ImpulsePal app intervention is still in the refinement stages of development. We used the qualitative feedback collected from the first cohort of participants to incorporate further changes to address the needs expressed by those participants. This updated version will now be used by a second cohort of participants to see if it works as intended and whether further changes are required.
When will the app be publicly available? Answer
There is no launch date set as of yet. The research team wants to ensure that the data suggests that the app intervention has potential, before making it freely available. If you would like to be informed when the app is available for download register your interest via the contact form.
Will there be an iOS version? Answer
Yes, the research team are planning to program ImpulsePal to run on devices using iOS and are currently looking for funding to ensure this is completed soon. If you would like to be informed when the iOS version of the ImpulsePal is available, please register your interest via the contact form.
